You need to find out if you have sufficient bone to support an implant. If you do not, or if it is an iffy situation, then the decision is made.
I was at the same crossroads and was told my amount of bone was questionable...possible 50 percent failure for implant, if not immediately then later.
I went with root canal.

I have fibromyalgia. I had lumps like that when I started guaifenisen (spl) treatment with Dr Paul St Amand and they went away. Dr St Amand believes fibro is caused by phosphorous deposits in soft tissue and guai pulls it out. Google him. Wrote "what your dr may not tell you about fibromyalgia".
