    Supraventricular tachycardia

A reader has recently been diagnosed with a supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), which is a rapid rhythm of the heart.  She would like to avoid beta blockers and would appreciate any advice on how to combat the condition.

    Re: Supraventricular tachycardia

My daughter some years ago while a teenager had many attacks of this condition , sometimes being taken to A+E dept. We resolved the problem when realised that the Pill was causing the problem - we were suspicious and when she came off it they went away!

    Re: Supraventricular tachycardia

My husband has this, as well as hypertension. He has never taken any medication even though he was diagnosed with the high b/p almost 20yrs ago. He takes various supplements, esp antioxidants including co-enzyme Q 10. He also takes an aryuvedic herbal remedy called Mukta Vati & tries to reduce stress as much as possible. Recently he saw an integrative doctor who specialises in heart probs. He diagnosed him with hyperventilation & said that this was causing a lot of his problems. He now does breathing exercises which seem to be helping a lot.

I agree, Q10 at 100mgs plus daily (preferably the dry-powder capsules: see www.iherb.com). Another substance that is worthy of considering is Serrapeptase (generic name) at 40000 units (or its equivalent daily or more if necessary). Other worthy considerations would be grape seed or pine bark extracts (antioxidants but apparently good for arteries and veins).

    Re: Supraventricular tachycardia

I manage to keep arrhythmia at bay with a combination of Q10 and taurine.  Dosage is something to be worked out by trial and error (I take 100mg of Q10 and 500mg of taurine).  Good luck
