cracks in corner of the mouth

I've had a crack in the corner of my mouth for over a week now and its really getting me down. Looks like a mouth ulcer and is really painful, my face throbs on that side. Just as I think its getting better it opens up again, and I have to be really careful what I eat/drink.

Have tried bonjela (ouch), one-shot mouth ulcer treatment (double-ouch), salt water, zovirax (as I thought it was a cold sore at first), and tea-tree ointment, to no avail. Have very dry lips generally, often need lip salve but always use natural ones with no chemicals or sunsreen in.

Anyone got any suggestions? I dont want to waste more money on OTC remedies, or panic-buy miracle cure vitamins that cost a fortune...

Hi.  I tend to have dry lips too and found a wonderful product - Blistex ointment (not the lip salve as it's not so good).  Gone were my chapped lips.

I don't know how much water you drink, but you could be dehydrated and needing to up your water intake.

Try Manuka honey on the sore - it's a fantastic antibacterial method of healing.  Use the 15+ strength.

Hope your problem is soon resolved.

    Sue
