    Post Vasectomy Reduction in Libido

I had a vasectomy 12 years ago.  Instead of a 30 minute operation, I was operated on for 2 hours.  So long, in fact, that I had to receive a booster anaesthetic.  The reason for the delay was caused by the surgeon accidentally nicking a blood vessel whilst sorting out one side which then took him 1.5 hours to fix.  The other side took him 10 minutes.  The consequences of that caused much bruising and swelling and instead of me having a day off work I had one week, and I couldn't walk properly for at least 2 weeks.

I didn't seem to suffer any adverse psychological affects, I treated it as 'one of those things that can happen' and got on with it.  Whether that experience had indeed had an effect or whether the vasectomy itself directly affected my later problem, but my libido was never the same.  I am 50 years old now.  I am fit and healthy.  Indeed, I'm told I Iook much younger for my age, and I feel healthy with a positive outlook.  However, my interest in sex is passive at best.  Before my vasectomy, my wife and I enjoyed an active sex life.  We have two wonderful children.  But now, I don't want to be bothered and it's starting to have an adverse affect on our marriage.

This is an embarrassing situation for me and a predicament I never expected ever to be in.  I have read the odd article that have suggested reduced libido is a potential risk a man can take with a vasectomy, but I have not come across any article, or blog offering any sort of advice about what my options are for doing something about it.  I very rarely visit the doctor, but I made an appointment to discuss this and she wasn't interested.

Has anybody out there been in a similar situation?  Where are the sources of info that I can access for help?
