    fractured wrist

    hello

I'm wondering if anyone can advise me of some good supplements to take following a badly fractured wrist and operation to pin and set this.  I am taking arnica and co-codemol for the pain as well as some anti inflammatories.  The pain is starting to reduce a week now after the operation but still quite strong.

    thanks!

    Re: fractured wrist

    Hello,

Reflexology can help with the pain and with the healing of the broken bone : 1) normal reflexology including whole treatment on both feet 2) work on the cross reflexe which is the ankle on the same side. The cross reflex can be worked every day for 5-10 minutes and can be done by the person herself (with the other arm). A whole reflexology treatment once a week can be sufficient. If someone can do the massage, it is of course better.

I recommend the homoeopathic remedy "Symphytum".  This is commonly used to knit bones and reduce pain associated with breakages/ fractures.  A potency of 30c taken twice a day (until a noticeable change is felt) should help.

    Re: fractured wrist

As a homeopath I always prescribe Symphytum 6 three times a day + Calc. Phosphate Tissue salts - dosage as on the container (New Era - found in Boots and health food shops) The Symphytum should be taken for 2 or 3 weeks and conservatively increase the healing rate by a third. Calc Phos strengthens the bones and will also help with the pain.

    Re: fractured wrist

I had a badly fractured wrist in 2003. Once the pins were removed and the incision healed, I still had a lot of pain and stiffness. My chiropractor performed acupuncture and I had immediate relief from the pain and increased movement

    Re: fractured wrist

Have you considered hyperbaric oxygen therapy, that is known to improve healing rate. My sisters foot was crushed by a bus, breaking many bones. She had 3 hyperbaric oxygen sessions and the doctors were surprised by the rate and quality of healing.

If you live anywhere near East Grinstead, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is available at Advance 01342 311137 at a very reasonable rate.

Make sure that you exercise your  fingers as much as possible every day!  Look up Reflex Dystroph Syndrome also called CRPS to be sure you haven't go that!   I found that massaging my bad wrist, palm and fingers in warm water really helped, also exercising the same in the bath once the plaster was off and the titanium pin out.  (looks like an Alan Key)!  Hope this helps.

    Re: fractured wrist

I would suggest trying Skenar device (or very similar Brtitish device Fenzian) - works wonders.

You can find out more about Skenar therapy from ICM website www.i-c-m.org.uk/documents/ICM_Journal_Winter_2006.pdf ,  and I believe Fenzian (www.fenzian.co.uk) is going to be available in hospitals soon as it's currently in clinical trials.

    With best wishes,
