    Primary Systemic Amyloidosis

My brother has this condition which is fairly rare and so any advice would be gratefully received.  Left to its own devices it generates toxic overload in the organs and normally leads to death within about two years.  Conventional medicine does not understand its cause or how to cure it.  So he has been prescribed chemo.  They intend to harvest his stem cells, 'clean' them of the amyloids and put them back in later or alternately recruit a donor - to which end the siblings have been invited to give a blood test and consider going down that track if suitable.

    My questions are:

     1. Any thoughts on curing or stalling through alternative medicine - he is fairly conventionally minded but is not dismissing these options.  My own initial searches suggest using mistloetoe may be of some use - e.g. in reducing chemo side effects.  Any thought on this or other options gratefully received.

    2. What are the implications of donor peripheral stem cell transplant in terms of whether it is a better/worse option for him

    3. What are the implication of above for the prospective donors - procedure seems to involve putting growth human into the donor to turn them into a 'factory' for the production of immature stem cells which are extracted from the donors blood as this is sucked through a dialysis machine.  Two of the prospective donors are men who are in the process of trying to 'grow' their families - one of these being very much a person who normally avoids conventional medicine and utilises alternatives and doesn't particularly like the whole idea of this specifically or transplantation in general.

    Re: Primary Systemic Amyloidosis

Amyloidosis is a disorder of protein metabolism in which there is an extracellular deposition of pathological insoluble proteins in organs and tissues. Amyloidosis can be acquired or inherited. Primary systemic amyloidosis is a blood plasma cell dyscrasia. This type of amyloidosis is often associated with lymphoproliferative disorders such as myeloma, macroglobulinaemia or non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

1).The protocols in homotoxicology can be applied for a post-chemotherapy detoxification plus as an adjuvant therapy to support the affected organs (usually kidneys or heart). The nearest homotoxicologist could be searched for on ICM website http://www.i-c-m.org.uk/search-practitioners?division=11&country=&postcode=&radius=10

2).Stem cell transplantation is a radical, but perhaps most promising method to treat this condition. The biggest problem is to find most suitable donor. Try to search private stem cells banks in case of difficulties. The relatives are usually the best source in terms of compatibility (HLA-type).

3). The procedure involves introduction of growth factors into the donor - the standard procedure that in some countries is performed even for rejuvenation purposes. Make sure that the donors are checked for cytomegalovirus with PCR test before transplantation.

    Best of luck.

    Re: Primary Systemic Amyloidosis

    Hi,

I think trying NES (Nutri-Energetics Systems) may be worthwhile, although not while on chemo, as the Infoceuticals have a detox effect on the body.

Have a look at their website www.nutrienergetics.com for more info, and to find a list of therapists.

    Best of luck

    Valerie
