    Re: Tooth Abscess

PLEASE!!!!! Go to a dentist, ASAP - if you want to avoid pain far worse than anything you can imagine, & also avoid poisoning your system. It sounds as though you have a root canal on the way, & I have had so many - please, just take my word for it & go & get help! Don't be put off by 'scare stories' about these, a good dentist can treat it without your feeling a thing. Apart from the increasing pain, you may also be saving your tooth...

    Re: Tooth Abscess

Are you sure it is an abcess?  If it is infected antibiotics would appear to be your only hope.  As I said are you sure it is an abcess? It may be a cracked tooth which is giving pain.  I have such. When I visited my dentist she was only interested in extracting the tooth - like you I did not wish to lose the tooth.  I was not convinced that the tooth needed extracting because the pain was not consistent and certainly declined in severity if I avoided chewing on my right side.  It is now one year since the event.  I suffered from a recurrence of the symptoms two weeks ago - I must have chewed something hard on in my right side - and after two weeks favouring my left side the pain has now gone.

Most dentists appear only to want to make money. It is simplest and the best use of their time and the best way to generate income if they avoid the complications and just remove bothersome teeth.  This appears to be the consequence of the current dentist-NHS contract.

    Re: Tooth Abscess

I had a pocket forming where food would foul and caused inflammation & bleeding of the gum between molars. Regular professional teeth cleaning in intervals of 3 months has brought my gums to a very healthy state!

A friend of mine started to show bad breath and when he flossed it would start to bleed between molars - very similar to what I had experienced. He tried MMS ('Miracle Mineral Supplement') discovered by Jim Humble. This is NaClO_2 as a 28% solution in water. You put maybe 10-20 drops of this solution into an empty glass and add 3X as much lemon juice (or 4X as much vinegar), let it sit for 3 minutes and then DILUTE with plenty of water. The reaction of the sodium chlorite with an acid forms chlorine dioxide (ClO_2) that goes into solution and will oxidize pathogens, thereby killing them instantly. I use 15 drops of MMS and add plenty of vinegar and after 3 minutes I almost fill the glass up with water. Use this to rinse your mouth, squish it around and then spit it out. After only one week my friend's breath was like an ocean breeze and he reported that the bleeding stopped almost immediately. You can also disinfect your tooth brush by dropping a few drops of MMS solution and juice/vinegar onto the brush and let sit until you use it the next time. I do this with my Sonic toothbrush regularly.

MMS was reported to also work on cankers in the mouth and on the tongue.

High ppm colloidal silver may also help. But if there is no betterment, then see a good dentist. With regard to root canals, Dr. Hassar from Reno, NV told me that in his practice he has never seen a single extracted root-canal-treated tooth that wasn't infected! I have two root-canal-treated teeth and one day I'll get rid of them. A root canal treatment only removes the central nerve fibers but does not seal the millions of fibrous channels in the root tip, which then will be harbored by anaerobic bacteria.

There is a correlation between dental health and heart disease, so don't wait too long!

    With best wishes, Stephan

    Re: Tooth Abscess

If the pain comes and goes, is it really an abscess?  I've had many, and the only time the pain ever went was when I was sitting absolutely still for ages, waiting to see the dentist.  She said it was from keeping so still!  I thought I was getting another one recently, but a lovely pharmacist diagnosed this as sinusitis.  If it's either of those, grapefruit seed extract could help - it's a natural antibiotic, as well as anti-fungal, brilliant stuff!  And go to a chemist with a good pharmacist before you rush to a dentist.  Good luck - and please let us know what it turned out to be.

    Re: Tooth Abscess

I was interested in your comment about the roots of the tooth. I had a root canal on a tooth some years ago. The dental hygienist did an xray and told me there is a shaded area above the root tip, I am told that I should either get the tooth extracted or a dentist/specilaist will drill in through my gum above the tooth and clean out the area. I am not experiencing any pain. They say that it could get worse and the infection could get into my system.

    Not sure what to do.

    Regards

    John

    Re: Tooth Abscess

All sound advice re getting dentsl treatment as you do not want a chronic abscess form. This can happen following an acute attack that may have developed into a sinus (a tract leading from the seat of the infection to the outside skin or a hollow organ) that has failed to heal. In this case more complicated dental surgery may be offered to close the sinus tract. If the sinus is left untreated it will be a potential source of repeated low-grade infections.

The following Homeopathic remedies may be helpful whilst awaiting Dental treatment.12C over the counter at health food stores or Boots etc.

Belladonna very painful and throbbing, the mouth is dry and the face overlying the abscess is red and hot.

Borax the individual has gumboils and complains of and is in great pain, the face is pale, (also useful for apthous ulcer and oral thrush).

Silica the abscess is well developed and very painful, the pain is made worse by both hot and cold items in the mouth.

Or four hourly mouth wash with five drops of mother tincture in 0.25 litres (½ pint) of warm water of both Hypericum and Calendula.

    Some herbs

Thyme (Thyme vulgaris) or Sage (Salvia officinalis) infusion, one teaspoonful of either herb in one cup of boiling water cover and allow to, infuse for ten minutes. Make sure it’s not to hot as to scald then hold it in the mouth and swish well round to reduce inflammation and infection as required.

If you really do not want to see a dentist contact the Society of Homeoopaths web site they will be able to put you in touch with a practitioner in your area

    Re: Tooth Abscess

Sometimes it really is best to see a dentist and not take chances as the poison could get into your system and I have heard of a case where it reached the brain. Not all dentist are good at root canal work so get recommendation.

    Re: Tooth Abscess

Like the other replies you have I agree that it may not be an abscess if the pain comes and goes.  However, it would probably be best to see a dentist and get an xray as abscesses can get worse very quickly.  If it is not an abscess or an infection I would definitely try some alternatives before undertaking any other drastic treatment.

I had a tooth extracted two weeks ago and have regretted it ever since.  I went to the dentist because I had pain in one of my teeth after eating.  I had the pain about 4 weeks but it was not excrutiating and was intermittent.  It was tender when I tapped the side but subsided if I didn't eat anything for a few hours.

The dentist said that as it was a retained milk tooth there was nothing she could do and the best thing would be to remove it.  I have another retained milk tooth on the other side.  The tooth was not decayed at all.  She said a 'pocket' had showed up on an xray she took about a year ago, although she did not take another one on the day I went.  She did not tell me a year ago I had this pocket otherwise I may have been able to do something then even if it wasn't hurting me.  I could have looked at preventing it getting worse.   She said I had the tooth 40 years longer than I should have (I am 50 now).  I was shocked at the time and should have just walked out then and told her to leave it.  I am always the first person to tell other people to try alternatives first and I go to a homeopathic doctor myself for other things.   I was really confused but questioned her as to anything else that could be done, antibiotics etc.  She said she didn't think it would do any good.  I waited for ten minutes for the anaesthetic to work and even then questioned her again and said I wasn't sure I really wanted it taken out.  In the end I let her take it out as I thought she knew best.  However, I can't tell you how much I regret this decision as I now have a gap to deal with and what to do with it.  I am sure if I had left it and tried some alternative treatments it may have settled down.  I should have just tried something else and had it extracted as a last resort.

I know your message is a couple of weeks old and I hope by now you are not in any pain and have sorted out the problem.

    Re: Tooth Abscess

I have just had a root canal, my first. The jury is still out whether out whether it was really necessary. but one rationale was better safe than sorry.  More importantly, there  is a web site in the United States dedicated to dental health, especially prevention. It is www.oramedia.com. The site administrator also hosts an email discussion forum which you can become a part of. There is an amazing array of information and opinions on all things dental. The discussion forum sign on is at the bottom of the web site page.  Good luck.

    Re: Tooth Abscess

    Hi,

My husband was getting frequent abscesses, one after the other.  He had antibiotic treatments and then last time when his whole face swelled up, I suggested he stop using his toothpaste (Colgate with all the bells and whistles) and use my Green People one for a weekend.  By Monday his face was back to normal and he has not had any problems since.  He continues to use my toothpaste.  Worth a try?

In one word - Myrrh!  Succeeds where antibiotics fail. Used to be used by dentists everywhere now sadly neglected. If your local chemists don't stock it, ask your local herbalist, who will also give you precise instructions on use to suit yior individual needs.

I find Silica 12, a New Era Biochemic Tissue Salt to be magical for all tooth and gum problems.  Take 4 every half an hour until the abscess starts to drain and continue taking it as often as you need to until the pain subsides.

    Re: Tooth Abscess

I have read al the advice here - I also would say that you need a dentist to check it out.

Not all dentists just do root canal for the money!  I have a tooth that only gives me pain if I "snap" my jaws together - which I seem to do at night and wake myself up with pain!  Or if I chew hard on something very crunchy. So I have been trundling along to the dentist and he assures me I don't need root canal because if he tests my tooth it feels pain - meaning the nerve inside is alive and several x-rays don't pick up any abscess.

My dentist knows I use light to heal myself so I have told him I am trying an experiment. He said sometime you can "bruise" the pulp in a tooth and so it gets sensitive. At night of course I am hammering a tooth when I snap my teeth together and keeping it bruised! I am trying not to do this at night - I seem to snap after a yawn - goodness knows why.

Teeth carry light like fibreoptics - so I have been irradiating the tooth with red light with a tiny torch and red stage lighting gel cut to fit.The light goes deep into the tooth and pulp.

I feel there is an improvement  - and I am training myself not to snap after a yawn....but it is too early to tell. I know dentristy is experimenting with using light in just such a fashion........

If you really have an abscess you need root canal - I know someone who had such a bad tooth abcess it used to drip out from a hole that the pus had eaten through her chin....she hadn't got it fixed because she was frightened of the dentist. Such self neglect is silly - she poisoned her whole system and complained eternally of feeling tired and depressed. Eventually her staff (me being one) bullied her into going to the dentist. It was so belated, she had to have all her teeth out and ended up with false teeth (about which she grumbled constantly) but her health actually improved dramatically so it was worth it to see bright eyes, a happy face - when she wasn't complaining about the teeth - and rosy cheeks.

This is just my halfpenny worth!
