    Morphine alternative needed.

Does anyone know of an alternative to the Morphine my husband has been taking in ever increasing doses for the pain of Lung Cancer.

This medicine makes him forever sleepy and only works for a limited period.

Coffee enemas are meant to help with pain. They are used as part of a lot of Alternative cancer programmes as they detox the liver. I have cancer & have 2 enemas a day. They are not as difficult to do as might be imagined. Originally nurses in WW1 discovered they worked on pain. They had run out of liquids to do ememas for constipation & decided to use the left over coffee from the officer's mess. A side effect was that the soldiers pain reduced. Do contact me if you want any more info. I am going away on Fri for a week, so contact me before then if urgent.

    Hi Emackay ...

My heart goes out to you mainly because I know how hard it must be to deal with that kind of pain. There are many ways to deal with pain and sometimes the diet and supplements help to heal the body which results in the pain becoming less. I have a chronic condition that was quite painful but I have learnt to manage it quite well with alternative therapies. I would like to know if your husband is also using alternative therapies for his condition.  Sometimes, the use of nutrients both in the diet and with supplements helps the pain to subside without relying so heavily on pain medications. I am a distributor for nature's sunshine products and a friend of mine has cancer.  The diet and supplements she has used has helped her to feel better and she is doing well.  While pain medications dull our nervous system response to pain, taking nutrients diligently helps to boost the immune system and revitalize healthy cells while diminishing cancerous cells.  So as our bodies heal, the need for pain medication becomes less.

What I would like to ask is: Is your husband on a healthy diet such as no red meat! and lots of fruits, vegetables and EFA's. Eating natural, organic, uncooked vegetables and fruits throughout the day is important. Juicing green vegetables (with a juice extractor) is even more important such as celery, cucumbers and even cabbage juice to help fight against cancer cells. (Scientists have even made a cancer drug out of cabbage)  These can be combined with juiced carrots and apples daily up to three times a day.  The antioxidants and enzymes in these fight against cancerous tumours while introducing more oxygen into the blood. They are also alkaline in nature which helps to neutralise the acidic environment cancer cells need to grow.

If you are interested, you can look at this article I saw that talks about anti- cancer supplements from nature's sunshine at http://happytherapist.blogspot.com/2006/12/cancer-chemotherapy-is-not-only-option.html You can also contact me at readypen2006@hotmail.co.uk for more information. Pay special attention however to the fact that one product Zambroza - that is effective in the treatment of cancer - should not be used during chemotherapy. It is good to use before and after chemotherapy.   All others have had positive results also.  Hope everything works out fine :-)

    Re: Morphine alternative needed.

It sounds as if you need to go back to your husband's treating physician - GP or whoever to review this. There are a number of drugs used for this sort of pain but most of them are morphine-type drugs. They can be very effective if used correctly but there is an art to it.

The key with this sort of pain is not to let it build up. What is happening with your husband is that he is getting a sudden large dollop in the bloodstream which makes him sleepy, and by the time he gets the next dose there may be too little in the bloodstream, so he's in a lot of pain, and needs a bigger dose to get on top of the pain. He needs to have it absolutely regularly - no missing or delaying doses even if he doesn't feel as if he needs it yet this time. That way he will need a smaller dose than he would if you wait until he's climbing the walls each time.

At some stage they may recommend a syringe driver, which administers a small dose continuously with the facility to have a booster when needed. It may sound drastic but it can increase quality of life considerably because you only have as much morphine or other painkiller as needed in the bloodstream at any one time and it doesn't peak & then tail off. My brother-in-law had this and we had to persuade the GP to let him have it because the GP (he wasn't a specialist in palliative care) believed that he would start to go downhill rapidly at that point, but it was the reverse and he was more alert & able to do more than before. Speak to Macmillan nurse (or Macmillan doctor, if there is one in your area), Marie Curie or the pharmacist (who of course knows far more about drugs than doctors anyway) for more advice.

By taking it continuously you can get effective relief from a smaller dose.

Has anyone suggested a short spell in a hospice for symptom relief? They can monitor you hour to hour and get your drugs balanced so you are comfortable without overdosing. Again, a lot of people think of hospices as 'last resort' but they now specialise in short admissions for specialised care, after which you can often return home more comfortable and more able to do things.

It must be very distressing to watch someone you love suffering and be unable to relieve his pain.

     All the best.

    Try researching this website www.beating-cancer-gently.com

In addition IV vitamin C can work very rapidly to destroy the cancer and thus the associated pain.

The amydalin/laetrile/vitamin b17 found in apricot seeds (the bitterer the better) is also known to destroy cancer cells.

    Praying helps, too.

    Re: Morphine alternative needed.

Dr. Catherine KOUSMINE had found that when the urine is alkaline, the pain of cancer disappears (or disminishes); the problem with morphine is that it makes the urine very acid, so creating more pain afterwards. Your husband could take a mixture of mineral bases as Erbasit or Nimbasit and measure the PH of the urine with a special paper. When it comes to 7, see whether this makes a difference. I suppose this can be done even if the person takes the morphine. In this case maybe the dose of Erbasit should be more. I don't know but there is no risk to try, the product is not dangerous.

The dose which is adequate is the dose that maintains the PH of urine slightly alkaline (above 7).

I was there when Dr. Kousmine gave this information to a young doctor (who at the time, in 1980, was not so interested !) as it was during a meal and I happened to be sitting next to Dr. KOUSMINE, who has been quite a celebrity in Switzerland.

    Re: Morphine alternative needed.

I would like to recommend a book on Urine Therapy. It is regarded as a modern classic and is called 'Your Own Perfect Medicine'. This book is full of remarkable case studies. It is in fact teeming with miraculous stories of healing. Several of these case studies involve cancer and one lung cancer. It is written by Martha Christy and can be bought through Amazon.

I would like to add that I was once in constant pain with an enlarged prostate gland, but after drinking 4oz of urine one night awoke completely pain free the next day and have been pain free ever since-i now drink 4oz of urine every morning. Do check out the review of this book on amazon.

    Re: Morphine alternative needed.

Have you tried Hawaaiin Noni Juice. I know someone who took Noni juice for cancer pain and it helped them...It made them feel more alive...their words. It might be well worth researching.

Mona Harrison M.D., formerly assistant dean of Boston University School of Medicine and chief medical officer D.C. General Hospital, Reports:

That Noni enhances the function of the thyroid and the thymus glands, which she believes act to fight of infections and other problems with the immune system. She even reports that Noni helps to fight depression, possibly through its effect on brain hormones and neurotransmitters. Dr Harrison further believes that frequency modulations in the body’s energy may account for some of Noni’s positive actions. Noni juice has its own specific frequency; this frequency along with xeronine and the other compounds in Noni, is what adds to Noni’s therapeutic abilities. It stabilizes blood sugar, reduces menstrual cramping, and lessens the need for men with an enlarged prostrate to urinate at night. In reviewing the literature, it appears that Noni is a true adaptogen – it enhances the body’s healing system regardless of the medical treatment the patient is receiving. As an adaptogen, Noni brings the body into more balance; this state of being normal is called homeostasis. For example, if blood pressure is too high, Noni helps lower it. If blood pressure is too low, Noni helps raise it. If sugar is too low, Noni helps raise it. Noni acts in the same way if there is too much or too little acid in the body
