    Asthma

Hello; I am a 62 year old woman who has just been diagnosed with asthma. It began almost a year ago as a tickle in my chest and a need to cough. It would go away for awhile ans then return worse then before. It continued this cycle until I was coughing all the time with this constant tickle and now tightness in my chest. My doctor suggested it was triggered by allergies and gave me Flonase nasal spray and Singulair tablets. Any other suggestions that would be more natural?

    Re: Asthma

    Hi there

I am 43 and earlier this year I have virtually have cured myself of asthma.  Basically I started to take superfoods, spirulina and noni juice and my asthma symptoms slowly but surely get less and less.  I am now on a mainly raw vegan diet.  I have had asthma since I was 8 years old.  Now I find that if I do have asthma symptoms now I can more of less tell what brought it on.  Grapefruit, dairy products (esp, cooked cheese), some wines (the suphites), beer.  When I am on 100% raw vegan I have no asthma symptoms at all, I notice that when I come off that I do get slight irritation.  Also, traffic polution can be a problem.  I would say look at your diet.  I have not been to any doctor or medical establishment in about 8 months (I would usually get repeat asthma medication prescriptions at least once a month) and I have no desire to see them ever again.  I find now that IF i have to take my asthma pump or I was also on seratide, I find myself all shakey for and headachy for the rest of the day, so I now don't take them at all.  I have also found that I have re-trained my thinking.  As I now know that taking any artificial drugs is just simply no good for me, if I do feel a tightness in my chest I tell myself.."well there is no point in taking those drugs, you will be ok.." and since saying that to myself, my chest and breathing normally rectifies itself very soon after.  I am also allergic to cats, but again, over the past six months even though I do may still get a mild reaction to cats, it's no where as bad as it use to be, the same for house dust.

So, in a nutshell, look at your diet overall, start an asthma diary, so you can look back and see any link to what you may have ingested.  Maybe you have got a new pet?  Maybe look at that also.  Good luck !
