    OBESITY...

The catastrophic rise of obesity and associated diseases of diabetes, cancers, etc. will cripple the NHS....sooner, rather than later, I fear!

Whilst appreciating the emotional content of the problem, it is mostly an issue of too much of the wrong food/drink being ingested....and sedentary life-style choices.

The on-going official dietry advice from such organisations as Diabetes UK, British Nutritional Foundation, hospital nutrional departments, etc.etc., all filters down from the Food Standards Agency......whose proud boast that their advice hasn't changed in the last fifteen years.......must be considered as part of the problem....or they are being totally ignored!

Feel free to check out their 'expert' advice on 'good' lipids.....and the insulin/leptin response problems of, "a third of our diet should consist of starchy carbohydrates such as bread, pasta, rice, potatoes", freely available on their healthy eating pages....

.......Little wonder we have a major obesity crisis!

For those of you who have an interest...and logical thinking processes rather than 'follow the herd' instincts, I recommend that you read the information at the following links ....and then make your own mind up!:

    Thanks for all those links.

Just to pick up on one aspect of your post: I am increasingly seeing people who eat correctly, exercise correctly, drink sufficient water yet still can't lose weight. It's one of the riddles we are trying to solve at present. With Lynne's permision, if we get any answers, we'll post them here.

    All the very best

    Re: OBESITY...

    Thanks for your comments Nic.

I too see these kind of clients....BUT......and it is a big but!

It is impossible to know if what they are telling you is a self deluding 'fib'....misunderstanding as to what constitutes a good diet (highly likely and certain if they are listening to most dietry 'experts'!)......or they think that a mile or so 'brisk walk' is enough exercise......or, as is also often the case, the more obese they are , the bigger the 'fib' as to how much and what they are consuming.

....After all, everything in the UK is now 'Low Fat'....except the population and there is the clue!

I think you will find the information at the links I provided very enlightening as regards dietry myths certainly and the food industry's vested interests!

I know of no instances of obesity in tribes or communities where food is limited and fresh....no, 'I've got big bones'.....no genetic predisposition....and no 'hormone inbalances'....I think you get my drift?! ;)

I look forward to this discussion opening up... as and when readers have had time to peruse in depth, the linked information.

    Re: OBESITY...

Considering OBESITY is featuring in the news so frequently lately, about to bankrupt the NHS....and being touted as 'a bigger immediate problem than global warming'....it appears to not be of much interest here on the site?!?!

Maybe this is to be expected and indicative of the problem?

Heads in the sand and ' I'll eat what I like ' syndrome anyone?

    Re: OBESITY...

    Nic,

How do you know your patients are eating, drinking and exercising "correctly"?

Are they following so called "conventional" wisdom?

I would ask them to do a diet log for a week and present it to you.Prepare to be surprised!!!

Their exercise needs to be tailored to their current levels of stress.

Exercise is another stress and as most people are already fried, going to the gym or jogging is just like whipping a tired horse.

For such people Tai Chi or Chi Kung is excellent as it cultivates Chi (life force) and GIVES them energy rather than depleting it.

Chi exercises are also encourage anabolism (muscle building) and stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system.

Another thing to consider is toxicity. If the body is toxic it will avoid fat burning like the plague because it will release the toxins stored in the fat.

The elimination system, liver, kidneys, lungs, colon, skin needs to be in shape to deal with the release of such toxins.

    Re: OBESITY...

We all know that obesity is very complex issue with too many factors playing dramatic roles. Where to start many may ask? Most obese people actually do not eat that much and that could be also a problem. Irregular meals? Too hungry and eating too big portions once a day? What about emotions? Isn't it true that 90% of all our health problems are rooted in our emotions? Were we called ugly and fat by our schoolmates or even parents? Is it a program? Don't we like our body? Please ask all those questions.

Wouldn't you nurture your body? Why don't you talk to your body, it is yours after all. Touch it, nurture it, play with it, look into the mirror and admire it. Still it is your body. Don't punish it by saying nasty things even in your thoughts. Ask yourself infinite questions how come you got this far? What else can you do? Does your body deserve to be so punished being fat? Is your body really ugly?

Some people can start with energy medicine, be it acupuncture, kinesiology, herbal medicine, naturopathy, body talk, whatever, just do not give up. I also suggest to play free online energy healing which is offered through some very enlightened company for free. You may choose either Youthening or Kingdom of Happiness energies which are listed on their free energy healing website at energizingtechnologies.com

You do not need to be in front of your computer while playing these energies, let the Internet play it while you go about your daily activities, the fat will melt, slowly but surely but always be gentle to your body. After using it for 3 weeks, check your weight and see if you lost some weight, maybe your clothes will be better judges than your scales. Be gentle and nurture yourself !!!

Is it me....or have we lost the plot here?!

I don't personally see this advertising on here... of a questionable esoteric web site....pertinent to a serious discussion on obesity. This doesn't do great things for the credibility of WDDTY.

    Re: OBESITY...

Yes, David, we live in 21st century and there are people out there who are testing various approached. So I am not sure what you are calling credibility. I am a non-native English speaking medical doctor with 22 years of experienced and I always thought that only RESULTS matter. Almost all of my patients are achieving fantastic results through quite unusual and unique energy medicine method. Who cares if it is esoteric website. Why do we have to label everything? I only care that it helps. All those patients have fully recovered from serious ailments and they are happy, that's all what matters to me. So what you call credibility? Drugs with side effects?
