Epsom Salt Bath - Allergic reaction

    Hi

I have just had a  bath containing a small amount (2 dessert spoons) of Epsom Salts. (it also says heptahydrate BP W/W??)

Within  a minute or so I developed a very red, raised, angry and itchy  rash on my legs and arms. It has not happened before and I am sure it is an allergic reaction.

Does this mean that I am now allergic to magnesium sulphate?

    Thanks,

    Adrienne. (chronic fatigue)

I do guess you have an allergy to Epsom salt. Many processed food contain sulphites as preservatives. One would normally assume an ancient remedy to be without side effects, but you have to consult your doctor if you have asthma, blood pressure or kidney disorders. Also you should not have epsom bath too often - once a week should be ok.

You can read some notes of caution on epsom salt usage.
