Both my parents had Cellulitis so I know what a distressing condition it is.

Best wishes,

Jacky

Re: cellulitis

Hi there

I would strongly recommend Lymphatic Drainage for cellulitis. Lymphatic massage uses very gentle but repetitive specific movements to drain the fluid and reduce swelling. It does not hurt. You will probably need a course of treatment and dependant on the swelling bandaging may be required for a short period of time. I am a massage therapist but you could also find one at www.mlduk.com or maybe co.uk

You will also need a high intake of anti-oxidants to support your immune system and maybe a supplement to support skin and circulatory issues. I would recommend that you see a nutritional therapist who can write a specific programme. You can find a nutritional therapist from contacting BANT British Association of Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy. www.bant.or.uk

Hope this helps. I have many clients who have had cellulitis and it is possible to reduce the swelling using lymphatic massage and nutritional therapy, although each case is individual.

Re: cellulitis

I had a patient with this - a child of 10 who kept getting hospitalised everytime a Molluscum spot got infected. A homeopathic remedy prescribed for her as an individual stopped any more cellulitis and eventually got rid of the Molluscum. I therefore suggest you try a local homeopath - See Society of Homeopaths website for someone in your area.

Re: cellulitis

My elderly mother had cellulitis on her arm almost a year ago last summer. She is immobile and in a nursing home so unsure of the cause. Anyway, she needed a dose of antibiotics but I also increased her vitamin C intake and her dosage of probiotics from one to two a day. of antibiotic for many years which prevented it from getting bad.

i was eventually refered to a lympodeamia clinic where they reduced the size of my legs with compression bandaging over a two week period and then measured me for compression stockings. that has worked but obviously the wearing of these compression stockings is not always comfortable.

however, i am not sure that i hold with people diagnosing and prescribing in places such as this so i recommend you nag your doctor and keep nagging until you are given the right treatment for you

Re: cellulitis

I had treated my mother would had cellulitis and the doctor put her on antibiotics to no avail. It is a sad thing to go through. After mother had passed away and my brother passing 6 most later, I was taking a shower and slipped banging my lower leg against the tub. That resulted in a big knot forming and later.......cellulitis!!!!! Well, I too took antibiotics, if you can get a hold of Tetryciline (sp) which is what I took. Also, I had done some research and found out that antibiotics only work if you take enough to compensate how much you weigh. Meaning I took more than the recommended amount. It did not take long to disappear and I had no side affects of the dosage I was taking. I also wrapped my leg in tobacco juice. If you can find some good loose tobacco and steep in hot water and soak a cloth in the juice and wrap the area will do wonders. I have not been affilicted since and the bruse mark is slowly fading away. This was in 2004. Cellulitis is caused from a staph infection which is bacterial in nature thats why the antibiotics. So now after all this I now have a full blown yeast infection which I am working on now. It is slow going but is working. I believe any ills I have will be washed away with the yeast overgrowth. To prevent from recurring I would suggest getting your immune system in top performance along with a healthy diet.
Re: cellulitis

Hi there,

I had cellulitis on my leg from an insect bit in 2004 and ended up needing surgery to remove the resulting cyst which was about the size of an egg. I had circles of concentric cellulitis around the cyst and was on several anti-biotics after discharge and IV anti-biotic during admission to hospital. I was asked if I was diabetic as my glucose levels were a bit high.

Now if I get stabbed by thorns as I was 10 days in the garden I tend to develop these welts and resulting swelling. I did a homemade poultice of fullers earth, a face pack mixed with the powder of amoxillcillin capsules I had in the house. And then wrapped my leg in a bandage soaked in TCP. I went on amoxicillin immediately and carried on with the skin applications. I alternated with stuff called Sulfur 8 which is a sulfur based scalp ointment but is handy for folliculitis and infected bites. After five days I managed to get the welt down and avoid more surgery. So taking care that your legs are protected when there are bugs about, and from animal fleas and thorny plants is important.

I think getting checked for hypoglycemia, diabetes and other metabolic disorders might be useful. Cutting back on sugar and sugary fruits, might be prudent as well. Increasing Vit C for a while would probably be helpful.

The swelling: you might have something called Lymphodoema

http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:2Ap_hkXQBJcJ:medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Lymphodoema+lymphodoema&cd=4&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk

this can be treated by a specialist who can help drain down some of the fluid, but see a doctor first to discuss.

All the best,

Adelaide

Re: cellulitis

I treated my 84 year old mothers cellulitus also a 93 year old lady in Somerset who had been suffering for 26 years.

2 treatments daily for a week using the Scenar 97.4 the swellings diminished within 20 mins on the first treatment

A month later both their legs were back to normal

The district nurse tending my mother was astounded with the results after 3 days treatments

Re: cellulitis

Hi - I'm not speaking from personal experience, but have you considered acupuncture as it manages to cure a variety of ills? It could just help with the swelling.

Wishing you well.

Sue

Re: cellulitis

If anybody reads all the problems they will find that I usually only talk of two things: Bioptron polarised light or BodyTalk! Sorry if I'm a cracked record but apart from maybe our Manuka honey, I can't think of any two better modems for total healing.

BodyTalk (www.ibaglobalhealing.com) gets answers from the body's innate intelligence (that sub-energy that keeps everything working). You may need Body Chemistry to remove toxins left behind. Or there are a couple of individual colours (of the 7) sold with the Bioptron light (www.bioptron.com) which bring circulation to the area and deal with lingering infections.

Go to Practitioners in the BT and country in the Bioptron websites and find someone near you.
