Since having radiation therapy for tonsil cancer eighteen months ago, this reader’s sister has experienced troubling side effects. She is no longer able to produce saliva and she keeps developing growths on her jaw, which cause a tremendous amount of pain. In the last six months, three growths have been removed but tests have revealed nothing. Can readers offer any advice for dealing with these problems? Are there any natural remedies that could help?
According to one reader, antioxidants are the answer to this problem. “Antioxidants can repair tissue damage caused by radiation poisoning,” she says. Specifically, she recommends a nutritional supplement called Vibe, which apparently has the highest certified antioxidant potency of any liquid supplement. “Take the full dose each time for three months,” explains our reader. “Eventually it will start to clear up. But really you should probably take it for the rest of you life for the anticancer properties.”
Another reader recommends homeopathy: “There's a homeopathic remedy called Radium bromatum, which is given to patients who've had problems since receiving radiation treatment. Amongst its treatable symptoms it lists dry mouth and aching of the jaw…it’s worth a try.” Alternatively, see a qualified homeopath for an individual prescription.
