    Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris

My 4 year-old granddaughter has this very unpleasant skin disease.  It is very rare.  Has anyone come across it and does anyone have any advice ?  It is incurable to date and somewhat like psoriasis.  Is there any natural skin treatment that might help?

    Re: Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris

Any skin condition has the underlying cause, usually of systemic origin. It is pointless to self-treat such condition as you can suppress disease which could relapse later in life affecting completely different organ at most inconvenient time.

Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris usually affects hair follicles and could be of inherited form (autosomal dominant). Abnormal vitamin A metabolism has been postulated as a possible cause. This disease has also been associated with HIV infection.

Besides systemic treatment, topical keratolytic agents could be used (e.g. Atlantic cod trypsin as suggested by ijcollins for Cradle Cap, but systemic treatment should be different as eczema has completely different causative factors from Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris).

I would suggest going for professional advice. Skin conditions are successfully treated with methods of homotoxicology (or modern homeopathy that combines methods of natural and conventional medicines). Depending on your location I could refer you to good homotoxicologist in the UK.

    Hope it helps.

Thank you for your advice.  Sasha's parents are taking professional advice but they could be interested in homeotoxicology(?) if you could suggest anyone in their area.  They live in Guildford, Surrey.   Many thanks.

    Re: Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris

When my son was small, about 2 years old (he's over 30 now) he was diagnosed with Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris.  I remember us giving him oatmeal baths to try and relieve the condition.  Then his pediatrician had suggested a "high" dose of Vitamin A for one week.  I don't remember the exact dosage, but it did clear it up and he has never had it come back! :-))  It's worth a try.

    Re: Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris

I too have been diagnosed with this skin condition although I am adult.  It is really distressing for me so you certainly have my sympathy for your grand daughter.

I have been fortunate enough to be able to consult a dermatologist privately and the end result is that I have been prescribed NEOTIGASON capsules, (Acetretin) - or Vitamin A.

Apart from the redness and itching, I found the flaking skin, hot  and general peeling to be worst.  I have used numerous creams and lotions and all have had a slight healing effect although I am convinced time has been the greater healer.  To date and after two years, I have just undergone UV light treatment since my dermatologist started to lean toward a PSORIASIS diagnosis.  As I write, I am clear but keep taking the tablets and am monitored every 4 months.

In my opinion although it has been denied by all medical 'professionals' my problems began after Radiotherapy for breast cancer in 2004 and I am convinced that is what triggered mine.  (but that is a different story).

I wish your grand daughter luck.

I had an adult patient with this many years ago - I think it was when I was still a student homeopath. I prescribed for the Whole person and within a month it had gone. I would therefore suggest you try a local professional homeopath. Check out The Society of Homeopaths web page for suggestions.http://www.homeopathy-soh.org/

    Re: Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris

Thank you for telling of your experience.  It is most helpful to hearr of someone getting a reasonably good result for combatting this horrible skin problem.  It gives my family hope.  Thank you.

    Re: Pityriasis Rubra Pilaris

I have made what I call the Triple Breath for skin problems, and you use the TB to code you water and then drink it. The water will then code the water in your cells. Very easy to use and it require no skills at all to use it. The coded water is very effectieve and can give som symptoms such as headache, diarrhoea, nausea, dizziness and changed eating patterns can occur. These are all positive signs of cleansing; relax all your muscles and accept the condition.

I have written an e-book where you can read more, you can get it here.,
