my husband is complaining of an uncomfortable burning sensation in his elbow and now his knee (best described like a carpet burn feeling), i'm baffled, it came on mysteriously about a month ago and is most noticeable when he bends his elbow or knee, suggestions welcome please.

    Re: burning sensation

He needs to make sure he is fully hydrated.

Multiply his weight in kilos by 0.033 to find how many litres of water he needs a day.

His urine should be light yellow..NOT dark or clear.

When the body is dehydrated one of the first place it scavenges water from is joint cartilage along with the intestinal tract...is he also constipated?

Rehydration can take months and even years if it is chronic.

He needs to avoid ALL GRAINS AND PRODUCTS MADE FROM THEM.

If he has a grain  intolerance the body can attack the synovial lining of the joints because the protein in gluten is so similar to the joint lining that the immune system can't tell the difference.

I would advise an Omega 3 fish oil supplement such as Higher Nature as they are filtered for toxins.

He needs to avoid ALL dairy because if he is gluten intolerant he WILL be dairy intolerant as they go together.

    Avoid ALL procesed sugar.

Eat plenty of organic meat, the saturated fat will do him good.

Go to www.ppssuccess.com and do the free Metabolic Typing test and then eat all meals to Metabolic Type.

Try the above for 3 weeks and see if his symptoms improve.

His problem could be caused by many things but the above is a good starting point and is relatively easy to do.

    Hope this helps

    Re: burning sensation

I had  this in my elbow last year after having electro treatment at osteopath. (;laser light, ultrasound and tiny electric shocks)  A burning/searing pain developed and lasted for 6 months. This was a big clue for my illness of 18 yrs - electrosensitivity as a symptom of hypothyroidism which has been undiagnosed until now.

My metal watch and/or battery was also giving me problems. All pain in both elbows since 1990 has gone.

Might not be connected but worth checking as can cause host of symptoms - recognised now in Sweden & Canada..

    Re: burning sensation

Hi Adrienne,  what you wrote about electrosensitivity and hypothyroidism was of great interest to me.  I too have had a combination of burning pains and itching and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about a year ago.  I had begun to suspect my laptop computer which I position on my lap for several hours a day - and that is the region of the searing itching and pain!  I had tried everything and spent a fortune because this is a soul-destoying affliction.  It has stopped me getting a good night's sleep for months.  The only relief I found was anti-histamines but I had to stop them because of their side effects.  I wonder if I will have to stop using my computer?  I am prepared to do this, even though I love it, and I need it for my work.

thanks for putting in more pieces of my jigsaw, it is certainly a problem which i think is more common than we know.

    Re: burning sensation

    Hello Margaret,

So glad I was able to help!

I have been so sure of all this and it is great for me to get this response from you!

Last year we bought a lap top and I noticed it affected me - mainly a metallic taste though which went when I stopped using it.

Many of my symptoms of 18 yrs have finally gone after I worked out that I was getting mild electrosensitivity symptoms. Since then I have been working for the charity Electrosensitivity UK networking etc so I need internet too.

Please feel free to email me as I have so much more info for you that will help you to recovery. adrienneobbard@msn.com

In particular, I have discovered a huge problem with mild  iodine deficiency in UK which causes hypothyroidism.

    Regards,

    Adrienne.

    Re: burning sensation

Hello Adrienne, your story is very interesting.  This problem is a big worry!   Situations like newborn babies in flats with wi fi, mobile phones, televisions, computer screens, microwaves etc etc.  I have tried to e.mail you but not sure if you received it.  I am a bit woolly with how to use this forum etc, so maybe you didn't get it.  Was just saying I would greatly appreciate any further info you could direct me to.  Many thanks, margaret
