I had a hysterectomy 3 and a half months ago, since then I have suffered with a really heavy tummy ( a bit like I am heavily pregnant and the baby is very low), bad pain around my hips, bad pain across my middle belly making it very uncomfortable to wear trousers or skirts. I wake up with a flat tummy and as the day progresses it becomes really swollen, tight and sore - again as if I am heavily pregnant and I get pulling like pains, which is apparently trapped wind. Every time I go to the doctor I see a different one, some say it takes a while for the gut and bowel to work properly after being man-handled during surgery, another doctor thinks I may have had irritable bowel syndrome before my hysterectomy and that the surgery has made it flare up. Attempted work last week, found it too sore and my tummy too heavy so went back to the doctor and just about managed to get him to sign me off work for another week. I was originally told it would take around 12 weeks to sort it self out, but don't feel that I have improved for at all in the last 2 weeks.
I am also very interested to hear from any one else who have had this problem and how long it took them to go back to work, and how long it took them to recover and how it was resolved.
