    Nasal infections

My youngest son regularly (every couple of months!) get a nasal infection, causing a huge, red, blind-type spot which eventually oozes (sorry!). He has been to the doctor, who got him checked out for diabetes (which he hasn't got), but very little else. Any suggestions would be most helpful.

Have you thought of trying a Neti Pot? I'd never heard of them, but Dr Oz (on Oprah) had a member of the audience demonstrate using one. They checked back with her a month or so later, & she was totally 'sold' on it - had been a tremendous help. We've been unable to source them in NZ so far, but you may have more luck - try a health shop... (It is used to clean out the sinus passages.)

    Re: Nasal infections

    Dear Peg,

Easy and natural remedy is steam inhaling use camomile infusion and/ or seasalt in the hot water as it is calming cleansing and antiseptic.

Otherwise you could look at the actual drainage of nasal, sinuses, lacrimal glands for which a simpe drainage massage, facial massage, accupressure massage would help, The problem could also be due to misalignments of several structures in the area (did he have a difficult birth or possibly an accident?) to check this out and get treated you could consult a craniosacral therapist.

Also watch out for a pattern connected to the two months cycle ( e.g. what does he it then? does he stay with friends at the time and eats differently? does he wear glasses?...)

    hope this helps

    Re: Nasal infections

Why not try WDDTY's suggestion in the 20 April 2008 edition:

"Humming:  Strong humming for one hour daily can eliminate sinusitis symptoms in just four days.  It may be that humming stimulates nitric-oxide production in the nasal cavities, which can act as an antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial (Med Hypoth. 2006; 66: 851-4)."

There are other suggestions: acupuncture, ozone therapy, supplements and herbs but humming is a simple approach and can't hurt!!

    Dear Peg

I would recommend trying Reiki. I learnt Reiki in 2001. Over the years i have been self treating regularly and giving it to my children as often as i can. Our health has improved tremendously over this time, we do not fall ill as often as we used to. If we do fall ill we recover much more quickly and without any complications.

Maybe your son's immune system needs boosting. Reiki is great at boosting our immunity.

What i would recommend is finding a good Reiki practitioner near you. Have your son receive a treatment every week for a few weeks. If he likes it and finds it beneficial, you could learn it and give Reiki to your son regularly. Depending on your son's age, he could learn it too and give himself Reiki everyday. Children respond to Reiki much more quickly than adults.

To find a good Reiki practitioner near you, you can contact The Reiki Association at www.reikiassociation.org.uk

If you are in London, I could help you. You can find information about me on my website www.reikiwithmamta.com

    With best wishes

    Re: Nasal infections

The Neti Pot is certainly worth a try. It is cheap and simple. I use one every day and have been free of general nasal infections and colds for as long as I can remember.

If you don't know what Neti is, just google the word 'Neti' or 'Jala Neti'. There are even demonstrations of how to use a Neti Pot on YouTube.

The practice may seem a little bizarre at first but it worked for me - and alot of other people.
