Your continued discomfort may be associated with other issues. Another post indicated that you should check for hiatal hernia, an idea I completely agree with. A good kinesiologist can check and correct this for you, and also have him/her test your illeo-cecal valve integrity which is often a cause for hiatal hernia. This is because when the valve is not working well (it is the connection point between large and small intestine), it allows the contents of large intestine (waste) to be reabsorbed by small intestine. This causes an auto-toxicity issue and also creates upward pressure which can often cause a portion of the upper stomach to become lodged in the diaphragm's "hiatus" or space between the two sides of the muscle. This will lead to the symptoms you have...the difficult breathing, the acid coming up the throat (the stomach thinks there is protein in there that needs to be digested when there is a hiatal hernia), and a host of other health problems. So, you may wish to contact the Touch for Health Foundation in the UK to get a referral to a good kinesiologist who can do these manual corrections.
You need to also begin an intensive course of probiotics to help rebalance the flora in the digestive system which gets seriously disrupted by the type of triple course antibiotic regimen you underwent. This, in and of itself, could be causing digestive issues for you.
Finally, get retested for h-pylori. If you cannot get your current Dr to do it, find someone else. If it is still active, you may wish to try an alternative approach using Zinc Carnosine, Glutamine/Deglycerrhized Licorice/Aloe Vera, and the homeopathic nosode for h-pylori infections.
One other piece of information relative to the acidic backwash. You may have low hydrocholoric acid levels or a too alkaline level of stomach acid since you have been on the acid blockers, and this is very common following that type of medication. You need to have your HcL pH be the equivalent of battery acid in a car to digest and disinfect the food you eat. When it is not at that acidity level, it cannot effectively do either. This allows the contents of the stomach to remain there too long becoming a fermented mash which then released this acidic gas and liquid up into the esophagus. A good way to determine if this is a cause of your problem is to take the "zypan" test, which merely refers to a supplement which I use clinically to test HcL levels. It is a hydrocholoric acid supplement. I have my clients take 2 with each meal for 2 days, then increase by 1 with each meal for 2 days, then increase by 1 for 2 days, etc. Once there is sufficient HcL and the pH has been corrected, you will know by a slight burning in the "gut" which tells you to back off by 1 tablet and remain at that level for at least 3 months to correct this deficiency/pH problem.
Hope this helps.
