    Build-up drinks/food for cancer patient

A friend of mine has been diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus, and is due to start chemo in a few weeks time. Although he is very fit and feels healthy, he is underweight and the doctor said it would help if he could put on weight before treatment, and recommended Complan.

I am wondering if there is a healthier alternative to this? From what I remember it is full of milk powder and chemicals, and tastes pretty foul too!  Also can anyone recommend any cookery books aimed at helping someone to healthily gain weight, rather than lose it?

Re: Build-up drinks/food for cancer patient

Unfortunately Doctors are NOT trained in nutrition.

Anyone who was would not recommend a processed, nutrient deficient powder like Complan.

He needs to eat REAL food.

He needs to eat to his metabolic type-read The Metabolic Typing Diet by William Wollcott or search the web for a Metabolic Typing Advisor...I recommend an Advanced MT Advisor.

Multiply his weight in Kgs by 0.033 to find how many litres of CLEAN,not tap water he needs a day.

His thoughts are CRUCIAL...visit www.mercola.com and look up German New Medicine.

Watch The Secret DVD or listen to The Law of Attraction CDs by Esther and Jerry Hicks.

Bed by 10pm...Up no sooner than 6am.

Avoid ALL commercial cleaning, body care products and as many chemicals as possibly as they lower immune function.

    AVOID ALL SUGAR....SUGAR FEEDS CANCER!!!

An acidic, anaerobic (without oxygen) environment favours disease, especially cancer.

He needs to become more alkaline and oxygenated. The correct diet and appropriate exercise such as Chi Kung,Tai Chi,Yoga can be a massive help in achieving this.

An Emotional Freedom Technique practitioner can help with releasing any trapped emotions which may be involved.

    www.karlloren.com

    www.mercola.com

    www.naturopath4u.com

Read How to Eat,Move and be Healthy by Paul Chek.

A great cookbook is Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon

My mother had cancer and the nutrition advice she was given by the "cancer specialist" would have GIVEN her bloody cancer. She was underweight and all they could see was increasing her weight with SUGAR for gods sake!!!

You wouldn't take advice from a Doctor about fixing your car or investing money because they are not trained to give such advice.

It is WRONG for Doctors to dispense nutrition advice they are NOT qualified to give.

I would view the advice your friend needs chemo with as much distrust as the nutrition advice you were given...their record in both departments is nothing short of CRIMINAL.

Thanks for the advice. I agree with you about the chemo, I am more concerned about the effects of this treatment than I am about the cancer, however my friend is more orientated towards orthodox medicine and I can't say "don't do it"!

Re: Build-up drinks/food for cancer patient

You can only give your friend information to help him make a better decision.

He has to decide for himself the course of treatment he wants to follow.

I know from personal experience with my mother how frustrating it can be to see a loved one virtually sign their own death warrant by having chemo.

Your friend has cancer BECAUSE he is UNWELL....he didn't become unwell because of the cancer.

He needs to become extremely healthy but chemo DESTROYS health and the immune system which needs to be as strong as possible to fight the cancer cells.

The success rate of chemo is about 3%....success by the medical profession's standards is surviving 5yrs after treatment...die in year 6 and you're still a "success"!!!!

    Thats a 97% FAILURE rate!!!!

Some therapies such as Gerson and New German Medicine claim a 95% success rate!!!

People don't die from cancer, they die from the side effects of the treatment like pneumonia, bronchitis,MRSA etc

It's interesting that it is not your friend on this site asking for information...could it be that you care about his health more than he does?

www.whale.to is one of the best sources of health info I have found on the web....get your friend to read the stuff on chemo before he makes any decision to have it.

Re: Build-up drinks/food for cancer patient

I saw some great replies to this post with excellent advice. I would also try the Essiac Tea which is said to help build the immune system. It is a deeply nourishing drink.  It is composed of 4 root herbs (meaning they are not leaves but roots which are supposedly rich in minerals from the soil).  The tea is high in iron which many people who take chemo become depleted of.  Many people claim to have healed their cancers from drinking the Essiac Tea.  One website where you can purchase the authentic version of the tea is www.billybest.org   Billy Best is one of the people who reversed his own cancer with it. I wouldn't rely on the tea alone but also a lifestyle change as suggested by the other replies.
