    swollen legs

I am a 50 y/o wm, I have been taking blood pressure medication for a few years, a year ago I quit smoking and since then I put on some more weight ( I am 5'10" and 240lb now, I am slowly loosing those gained pounds), a few months ago I was diagnosed with a severe arthritis in my left hip ( for this I am taking some supplements to control the inflammation). Some 4 months ago I noticed my both legs were getting  heavily swollen during the day. The swelling goes down at night and is completely gone in the morning but when the day starts the cycle repeats over and over again. I feel no pain associated with the swelling, just the swelling and  deep into skin "rings" left by the socks. I wonder if there is anyone who would help me figure it out why am I having this condition.... I asked a few physicians  (friends) but I got nowhere with their help.

    Re: swollen legs

I suggest that you ask your doctor whether support stockings, worn during the day, may help. They should be available on prescription.

I would suggest a vitamin/mineral supplement, and ginkgo biloba as well as a well varied daily intake of plenty of vegetables and fruits.  Check with your doctor whether the supplements mentioned will interfere with your medication.

I would recomend that you find the Dr. McDougall Programme on the internet for sound advice.

    Are you inuk?

I think you need your lymphatic system moving, it sounds sluggish.

I may be able to refer you. If you are interested email me on stephanie.ginn@btinternet.com

I prefer not to put other people's details on the web without their permission.

    Re: swollen legs

    Hi,

I had a client with very similar presenting symptoms. The leg swelling would build up through the day. There may be many causes for this and I really do not have the answers what I do know is that Jin Shin Jyutsu helped her. To find out more about Jin Shin Jyutsu you can check out http://www.jinshinjyutsu.com/. Hope this helps,

    Re: swollen legs

sound like you have pitting oedema if your socks leave a dent.  Since it is both legs, it could be a very early sign of heart failure.  Don't panic, this is not a heart attack but a symtom of getting older and very common, but it obviously needs a GP to check it.  If it is one leg, it is normally insufficiency of a valve in a vein.

    Re: swollen legs

    Hi,

It sounds to me as if you need to wake up your body a little more and deal with the edema. Your edema may be caused by medication that you are taking or your vena cava maybe narrowing) don't panic, your liver may be in need of a good and thorough cleanse especially if you are dieting and trying to lose weight. It may also be in trouble through the years that you smoked. It sounds to me as if toxins are not being removed from the body as effeicitly as they should be. This means that you liver and kidneys need to be working better. I would also like to wake up your lymph nodes as well.

This not only helps you to flush out toxins but it has also helps get rid of weight. It is very effective in the long term. I should explain, my mum had serious problems which were getting worse and we were both quite desperate to see things improve and we thought we needed to take drastic actions. I don't know if you would be prepared to do this but my mum has had edema for so many years and she gained many other health problems which were becoming quite serious. So in January I put her on a yeast, sugar, dairy and wheat free diet with supplements and anti fungals. The problem cleared in a week. Since then she's been on the diet and is choosing to stick with it. It's not going to be easy but it will help your body greatly. I would suggest you buy Erica White's Beat Candida book. This will be easy to follow. You will not go hungry because you will replace the diet you have now with good healthy alternatives. You may go through a period of unwellness, this is for many normal. Its called the healilng crisis. Please don't give up because these are the toxins leaving and when they are dying they usually cause more problems. Fungi is usually at the bottom of every problem and by eliminating it, people do find it much easier to deal with the problems they are suffering from. I've also found people feeling absolutely fantastic from being on this diet. They feel lighter, healthier, with more energy, brighter.

First of all I would recommend that you buy a B Complex from Metabolics - take this twice a day. Selenium (BioCare) twice a day. Vitamin C (Biocare), Aloe Vera Gel (Forever Living Products), eat more spinach 4lbs everyday (organic), chicken livers, black strap molasses - these are all high in iron. If you do decide to take iron supplements - make sure you don't do this for a very long time without taking a break, your joints may suffer and your heart may feel overloaded. Start massaging you lymph nodes. If they are below your heart then you must circle towards the heart and up. If they are above your heart, you must circle and massage them down towards the heart. The most important ones which you will feel working the hardest are on the sides of your hips. They need extra work. 5minutes morning and night. Omega 3, 6 and 9 Vegetable oil (Viridian), as soon as you put a teaspoon into your mouth add water to fluch it down, this way you can't taste it and its easy to take. This will help you heart, you liver and your arthritis. Please stay away from the fish oils and cod liver oils, they take too long to get out of the body and liver ones can be toxic. Make sure that whatever oils you take which are from seeds, they must be hexane free. It's a poisonous chemical used to extract the oild from the seed.

Stop drinking coffee as this robs your body off its iron. Prewetts chicory coffee is a great alternative. Drink (Baldwins) Milk Thistle by boiling the seeds. 3-4 mugs per day on an empty stomach. Eat as much organinc produce as you can. Eat more cauliflower as this will help your liver to make more Vitamin K. Your colon makes this naturally but when your liver is having to do the extra work it does need the extra bit of help. Please don't do this through supplements. Buy some uva-ursi herb from Baldwins (020 7703 5550), this is a natual anti-inflammatory as it is high in quercetin, it will make you go to the loo more often, but it helps in detoxifying the kidneys and the bladder. Have a bowl full of salad everyday. Increasae you vegetable and salad intake and cut down on fruits for the time being. Eliminate all stimulants, fizzy drinks, alcohol, chemicals fats, junk and processed foods. Drink distilled water for the first 2 months. The switch to filtered or Volvic water after, this will help your joints enormously.

After about a month add OxCgen or Oxytech will help to clean your colons, rehydrate the body, it will help eliminate other micro-organisms that your body doesn't needs and toxins. Get yourself some grapefruit seed extract (citricidal), a very pwerful antifungal and alternate each week with a new antifungal Blue Green Algea - Lifestream. Take a teaspoon of Virgin coconut oil and eat it everyday-antifungal. Add raw garlic to your diet and don't stop eating it, whether you put into rice or salad 2- 4 cloves are needed.

I believe you will do well from this and I wish you well. Please let me know how you do, I really would like to know. Thx.Bobby. thealoeverawoman@yahoo.co.uk

    Re: swollen legs

I think you have oedema. Is it only your legs? Do your fingers and face also get swollen? I had the same problem for years.

Tried everything to get the water out, that was wrong. The problem is dehydration. Your body does everything to hold the water.

If your legs always feel cold wear extra legging under your pants.

INDIGO helps your body against dehydration. See www.hado.net from dr. Masaru Emoto. If you're interested his books are also great.

    Re: swollen legs

    Lots of good advice above.
As mentioned previously, your heart may be slightly inefficient and oedma becomes apparent during the day. If this is the case, the oedema is usually around the hips when you get out of bed (since the hips are usually the lowest part of your body when supine) and then, as you become upright in the morning, the oedema tends to be round your legs. I imagine you have numerous toxins if you are an ex-smoker (well done for quitting!) This will mean that your body is overly acidic, and may account for the arthritis, and possibly the weight gain The toxic overload has probably contributed to your hypertension also. Consider Bio-Ex Therapy since this will remove your toxins and support vulnerable organs. I would imagine your lymph and cardiovascular systems will need a bit of a boost, and also liver and kidneys, as suggested previously. See www.bioex-therapy.com and if you wish I can send details of your closest practitioner.
