    long term antibiotic use

My father is 91 and has been prescribed over the last 2 months several antibiotics concluding with Clindamycin which the pharmacist  has said is the 'last ditch' in that the doctors are running out  of options.  The problem was swollen feet, poor circulation in particular to one foot which had an infected ingrowing toe nail removed 2 months ago . The infection has not gone -  the doctors think thou the swelling has gone down.  The toe nail area is still reddened and the big toe is particularly painful at night so sleep has been a problem.

    Any suggestions very gratefully received

I would suggest to check him on diabetes and liver function as this may put more light on his toe problem.

    Hope it helps.
