Yes, well I have tried mixing iron filings into regular paint and then using that.

 I was worried about the "dirty electricity" in the ground getting into our lightning conductor and re-radiating it into the air, so I had the conductor removed. I wanted it wired into the mains service to earth the stray signals from around the house, but the electrician wouldn't do it.
