    Re: Post Nasal Drip

Hi,  I have a few friends who suffered from PND.  I suggested to them that they try nasal washes using grey salt to make up the saline.  In each case they claimed this helped.  If it didn't take it away entirely, I put them onto serrapeptase which really did the trick for two of them the otehrs haven't yet come back to me on the matter.

There is a tool which can be used for these nasal washes but I can't remember what it's called.  I could find out, if you are interested.

I use the serrapeptase for controlling my asthma and for healing (particularly broken bones,).  It digests dead tissue ergo b lod clots scarring even tooth decay.  I don't hvae the PND problem so I cannot comment personaly on that merely on what was reported to me by the aforementioned friends.

If you want to contact me regarding further information please feel free to ask and I'll try to help. My e-mail address (hope it's permitted to include it but surely a moderator will remove it if it's not,) is: supernanna.calem@googlemail.com

There are a few other natural remedies, which might and probably will help.

    Re: Post Nasal Drip

I know for a fact that with a couple of my clients the symptoms have reduced by almost 80% over the last 6-8 months.  The clients are still carrying on with the treatment.  Homeopathy is the only alternative therapy which will help get rid of the reason why a person gets the Post Nasal Drip.  Dietary changes are an important factor too.  The client needs to have a lot of patience.  Have you had any coccyx/lower back injuries?

    Re: Post Nasal Drip

Hi MSOHANPAL.  How strange you should mention this!  I had surgery in the 1970s to remove 2 discs from my lower back (can't remember the numbers now) which was pretty traumatic as it was before the use of keyhole surgery.  I was in a cast for several months.

How could this be connected to my nose?

As far as I can rememer, this problem surfaced (?) when I was i my early 40s (menapause?) and had had a hysterectomy.

I take Potters Antifect after I have had a cold or sinus problems.  It helps it to clear up fairly quickly.  I have used it for years, my post nasal drip used to go on for ages.

You can buy this at H&B or at Boots.

    Re: Post Nasal Drip

I've had a similar problem for many years too. Also, when the weather becomes humid I also suffer with sinus problems.

When I had sinus problems recently, I went to Napiers and they gave me a tincture of Plantain and Eyebright. It eased the sinus pressure within 48hours and I've noticed my PND has decreased substantially too. When I've looked into Plantain and Eyebright further I've noticed that PND is on the list of conditions helped by this tincture. It costs £9.25 for quite a big bottle which will last for ages. I believe you can buy it online too.

    Re: Post Nasal Drip

Have you tried using a NETI pot with a mild salt solution?  I find non-iodized sea salt the best for my post nasal drip.  Make sure you use non-iodized salt only.  About 1/8 teaspoon in 2 cups of water is a good starting place.  Be aware that it will most likely burn the first few times you do the nasal irrigation.  This is a result of the inflammation.  It will subside quickly, within a day or two.

    Re: Post Nasal Drip

Try checking on the web post nasal drip coccyx injury.  There is quite alot of information available on the web.  I am not too sure, but I think its also linked to the hormonal imbalance as well.  As soon as I have some more information I will email it to you.

The neti pot with salt water is a very good idea.  Breathing exercises & using herbal tinctures help too.

    Re: Post Nasal Drip

I don't have the coughing problem but I suffered for many many years with a weepy nose condition having to blow my nose every 15 or 20 minutes to expel a clear mucus. I too thought I would have to live with it till my doctor prescribed me a nasal spray called NASONEX . I spray each nostril once every morning and have had very good results. I now blow my nose maybe just once or twice a day.

    Re: Post Nasal Drip

You don't need to spend any money or have any expensive treatment. They may help but will not reach the cause so have just a sticking plaster effect. The cause is 99% sure to be dairy products. Avoid them completely, even a tenth of a teaspoon can cause problems, until you are symptom free. This could take anything up to 3 months but usually at least 6 weeks. There are plenty of substitutes out there rice, oat and nut milks to try, the best margarine is Tomor, Sainsburys stock it. Be wary of too much soya, it can block absorption of vitamins and minerals. When you are symptom free introduce dairy again and see if any reacrion, which may be immediate or within 5 days..If all is well re-introduce but not more than 3 x a week at first. If the symptoms return it is likely to be a 'core' allergy i.e.something you were born with as opposed to aquired but it will be within your control. It is not likely to be bananas, everyone is different and nasal drip is the classic dairy allergy symptom. I wonder what the trigger was 15 years ago to provoke this to surface as normally symptoms start at around 30 as the body moves out of  adaption phase into exhaustion. maybe a stressful event or an illness. All the best.

    Re: Post Nasal Drip

Your symptoms are exactly the same as those I acquired in the past two years.   I finally found instant relief using an asthma preventor.   One puff in the morning and one at night.    It worked like a miracle!

Sometimes the doctors get it right  :)

It looks certain that not all people respond to the same things.

I have tried nasal sprays, saline washes, neti pot, I no longer eat wheat or dairy products, I don't drink, don't smoke  I nearly added don't live as thats how it feels sometimes.  Oh what I'd give for a full night's sleep!

    Re: Post Nasal Drip

I too have post -nasal drip and I have never been so miserable in my life,I am 61.This started 8monthe ago and has just got worse and worse.I had surgery in May,  Septoplasty and turbinate reduction, was a total failure.I was then given Nasonex spray from which I had bad side-effects.I am now coughing and it sounds like asthma.I use NeilMed Sinus rinse twice a day with no effect.I have tried anti-histamines again with no effect.I have started Acupuncture and have had 2 sessions so far.My next port of call will be Chinese herbal medicine or a homeopath not sure which.Tomorrow i  am going back to the GP as I am really concerned about my lungs,I have to see the ENT surgeon again in a fortnight, the truth is I have no faith in him.I cannot believe there is not a cure for this dreadful complaint, mine is only on the one side but I have mucus running down the back of my throat 24/7 or else it is stuck and I cant move it.Help! I would like a bit of hope that this can be stopped,at the moment I have none.

    Re: Post Nasal Drip

Update on my situation,I have now seen a different ENT specialist who tells me my Post-Nasal Drip is not sinus related or nose related but a throat problem! He also told me patients with  Post-Nasal drip often have a history of depression at some stage in their lives (I had an episode of severe depression 20 years ago but none since). He tells me it is a problem with my throat sending the wrong messages to my brain,I am to have 8 sessions with a speech therapist,I also had a chest x-ray barium meal and numerous blood tests.I do feel a bit more hopeful but realise it is not going to improve in the short term.He assures me it will get better and there are also drugs that help but he only wants to use them as a last resort.

    Re: Post Nasal Drip

Every time someone recommends a doctor's medication, I Google it, fascinated to see what people are prepared to live with as side effects or potential chronic ailments. I got on to Drugs.Com for Nasonex and was astounded that anybody would decide to take it! As I scrolled down, however, what did I find but a site for a NATURAL cure called Sinuswars, so I clicked on that. It is a homeopathic remedy.

Now WHY ON EARTH would someone recommend a potentially debilitating drug over something natural and which they say works a treat? It sure beats me......
