    Tail biting cat, anxious owner

I was wondering if anyone could help with an animal problem?. I appreciate this site is for humans

but it is causing his owner some distress so indirectly it is linked to her well being. The cat seems to gnaw at it's

tail sometimes till it bleeds. He can also nip her from time to time. Vets have not really had any suggestions

aside from steroids and possibility of docking his tail which seems a drastic measure . Have tried him on Kali

phos for stress and anxiety but doesn't seem to be working. Has anyone had any experience of this

and found a solution?. Or have any other suggestions or contacts that might help?.

The cat was taken from his mother early and bought from a pet shop. Had caring owners but they did not

really have great cat awareness. Now been adopted from them by his current owner who is very cat loving.

She is now getting quite concerned and upset by his continued self harming. Based in England.

    Hi
Go to www.bodytalksystem.com and click on AnimalTalk. I don't actually know what is on it re finding an AT practitioner but it that doesn't work click on Practitioners/Country/County and look for someone in the BTs who has done AT. I am a practitioner and I'm sure you'll read some testimonials on the site so I won't bother telling you all about now. Just know I can't recommend it highly enough.
There's a lot of Active Memory and perhaps wrong diet to work with there, I suspect (don't believe for a moment that cats should be eating a diet high in grains!).

Hope it gets sorted quickly for you. I'd love to know if your friend uses it.

    Cheers, Heidi

    Thanks Heidi

I looked into website but no-one in England does Animaltalk. Looks a very interesting system though.

The cat only eats soft pouches eg meat and gravy wont touch much else so not really eating grains. Have tried him on

pure salmon and chicken - wont touch. Yes he has issues with his past and have been working on that. He also has

bad teeth which I feel is a factor. He is only a young cat (2-3)

Thanks so much for responding. I may go do a body talk access day myself :-)

    Best wishes

    P x

Hi.  Has spiritual healing been considered.  There are healers that specifically concentrate on animals.  Maybe getting in touch with your local Spiritualist Church would be a good way to go as healers work out of the churches and they would be able to put you in touch with someone who could help.

Another thing is have parasites been excluded?

I hope the cat gets better soon as it must be very distressing to witness.

    All the best

    Hi P,

    I recommend a book:

    Pottengers Cats by Francis M.Pottenger

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=pottengers+cats

Your cat's bad teeth sounds like malnutrition to me...the health of the teeth reflect the health of the body as a whole.

Cats are designed to eat raw meat and when they eat the same processed foods we humans eat, they get the same diseases we get.

http://www.theanimalhealer.com/  This is the website for Margrit Coates who is a fantastic animal healer...she is based in Winchester.

Re: Tail biting cat, anxious owner

    Hi P

I know for a fact that AnimalTalk was taught there in September; please, just get in touch with someone either near to you - or Karen Best (Instructor). BodyTalk can be adapted very successfully to work on an animal (I've done it myself) - there's just animal behaviour and a few bits and pieces that can help in AT. The pouch food is still very much synthetic and grain-filled (it's too expensive for them to put in real meat). Besides a lot of that meat composition is rendered, from sick, dying, laboratory animals and those filled with drugs other ways, and from vets' clinics. The salmon is probably full of mercury or from synthetically-fed farm salmon (and the poorest bits) and the chicken will be battery hen - poisonous!

Bad teeth could mean poor nutrition and nothing to grind on; depends on how the health of the mother was too. Trouble is they get hooked on the chemicals that are deliberately put in the food to tempt them so that a natural piece of meat seems bland to them. I used to put down a chunk (not too big) of meat so that my cat had to grind it off and behave naturally, supplemented with a small amount of organic biscuits.

You've got nothing to lose by actually talking to someone and the cat has everything to gain, as well as a relieved owner.

    Cheers

Re: Tail biting cat, anxious owner

hi sorry haven't logged in for a while...

I will pass on your suggestions to the owner. She has taken him back to the vets again and saw a different younger locum. She said she thinks it may be a flea allergy!!!. They have put him on science diet for his teeth but doesn't like it as he likes to lick the gravy in the pouches. I am with you on all the chemicals and fillers in processed foods. When I had cats I fed them on at least 50% real meat and gave them organic tinned/biscuits. The book sounds interesting so will investigate myself. I don't think she can get to Hampshire though - she doesn't have transport is fairly old and lives in London. I live too far away from her too to help drive her there too. But I will let her know about Magrit - I have come across her work as she might have some body near her who could get her there. Though whether she can afford it and the cat would be willing to travel that distance is something I am not sure about. She might be able to phone though. The owner does practise reiki so has done some healing work on him. I can put forward the suggestions about animaltalk etc to owner and let her decide. Truly I thank you all very much for taking time to respond and offer this advice ♥
