    Bank promoting pharmaceuticals

I visited Lloyds Bank in London today.  I was most surprised to be faced with a pharmaceutical advert on their monitor.  It was a guy packaging up drugs and saying that they had transferred their account to Lloyds.  Apparently it makes it easier for us to get our drugs and medicines.  All the big boys in the same pot!!  Not too difficult to follow the money is it?

    Hi Sue,

Next thing you know Lloyd's will be offering more favourable interest rates for those taking any of the drugs advertised!!!

Hi Robin - I wouldn't be surprised.  Or a free swine flu jab for every £100 deposited!  lol

    Hi Gang

I saw a segment on TV which pointed out that Big Pharma has representatives on the boards of the biggest banks, in Parliament (especially the Ministry of Health of course) and TV stations and the media in general. It's no wonder they can advertise this way in the areas where people have to stand around a lot and stare at the walls. Except in mental hospitals where they are at the effect of, and as a result of, these drugs anyway .....

    Cheers, Heidi

That's interesting Heidi - the curtains of illusion are being pulled so we are getting to see the truth of who is in bed with who.  I don't know if anyone else saw the programme in the UK the other night about who is making us fat.  It was all about misrepresentation by food manufacturers - no one in authority seemed to want to talk to the reporter (surprise, surprise) and the only people who did basically said it was down to the individual.  She was questioning why MacDonalds, Cadburys and Coca Cola were sponsoring the Olympics and there were adverts showing athletes promoting these products - though any athlete in their right minds wouldn't be eating junk food.  Then there is The Sugar Company (I think that's what its called) - anyhow, they were saying that there was no proof that sugar is linked to obesity. It was all the fault of fat.  So keep to low fat foods and you can include jelly beans and doughnuts into your diet with no problem.  The companies behind this are Tate & Lyle and Silver Spoon - I'm sure there are others.  The Minister of Health wouldn't talk to the reporter and discuss, amongst other things, why Burger King was located within hospitals.  All interesting stuff.

    Hi Sue,

It's all about money unfortunately...Mc Donalds,Pepsi etc sponsor the Olympics because the events and the sports are so underfunded these big companies are welcomed with open arms.

Unfortunately 99% of world class athletes eat this junk as well...they are so misinformed about diet and nutrition because they get their info from their respective sporting organisations which are all sponsored by these same companies!!

It is hard to compete with Beckham advertising Pepsi,Chris Hoy on the packets of breakfast cereals etc

Go into any hospital and you will see vending machines selling sugar laden crap...the same crap that probably contributed to people being in hospital.

You don't have to dig very deep these days to find the cans of worms do you?  The BBC reporter tried to get to talk to Seb Coe, but he was unavailable and she was physically removed from the premises.

There are so many programmes on now about nutrition etc., that hopefully the health message will filter through!
