    teeth

    Hi,

my eldest daughter of 8 has got serious tooth problems: she had one milk tooth extracted last autumn because of serious decay. We went for a checkup recently, turns out that two more milk teeth are so badly decayed they also need to be extracted. So in half a year's time two more teeth got so bad they can't even be saved anymore!
She eats very healthily (organic most of the time), does eat sweet things but not excessively (and hardly any refined sugar), and is in very good health otherwise.
What can be the reason for this, and is there anything we can do to prevent this from happening?

    kind regards,
    Sofie-Ann Bracke

    Re: teeth

Teeth are an excellent indication of the health of the body in general.

Go to www.ppnf.org and read about the work of Weston A.Price and his nutrition recommendations.

    Price found the following "foods" caused dental decay and many other diseases;

White Flour and all products made from it...pasta,biscuits,cakes etc

    White Sugar.

    Pasteurised Milk.

    White Table Salt.

    Canned Foods.

    Processed,packaged foods.

    Other culprits could be;

    Skimmed Milk....its just sugar really.

Breakfast Cereals....can contain about 50% sugar.

Fruit Juices....they have been pasteurised and are just sugar.

    Too much fruit.

She needs to eat to her metabolic type...buy The Metabolic Typing Diet by William Wollcott...or find a MT advisor on the web.

Avoid ALL grains and grain products...they turn to sugar in the body.

Eat  fresh Organic meats and veg predominantly.

Drink enough water so the urine is light yellow.

Put a pinch of sea salt in each liter of drinking water.

Following this advice will help and will push her body ph more alkaline as it will almost certainly be too acidic at present.

    Re: teeth

Agree with most of Blobby's advice.....but for sure, somewhere she is ingesting waaay too much sugar/carbohydrate.

Decay is a dietry issue and people have been misled quite often by poor dietry advice.

An example is smoothies, which contain vast amounts of sugars and because the fruit cell walls have been pulverised, this is rapidly available to the blood stream, unlike eating the whole fruit of course! ALL processed carbs are treated as sugar by the pancreas and the attendant health issues such as tooth decay, ensue.

    Re: teeth

I had this problem and everyone, including the dentist, blamed me or my parents as sugar was taught as the only explanation but we eventually discovered the problem was something in the water I was using to brush my teeth.  I noticed I was getting loads of mouth ulcers so I moved to only using filtered water for everything, including brushing my teeth and all of a sudden my teeth stopped detiorating!  When I stopped once and went back to tap water my teeth deteriorated immediately and I've never gone back since.  I can't use Fluoride in toothpaste either and use Aloe Dent natural toothpaste with aloe vera and other great natural products and although the dentist doesn't understand as it goes against everything he was taught, he can't argue with the results.

I don't know if it is the same cause for your daughter but it costs relatively little to buy a filter jug and use that for brushing and to switch to Aloe Dent toothpaste (available online).

I had the same high cavity rate. Turns out I had celiac disease. There is a blood test available:

Celiac is an intolerance to the gluten in wheat, barley and rye.

    Re: teeth

Try Vitality "toothsoap" instead of toothpaste. Look it up on the web. People who use it, swear by it, and apparently never go back to using toothpaste again.

    Re: teeth

    Hi,

Of all the things you mention the only thing that she eats is grains: bread (sourdough spelt bread mostly), oat porridge in the mornings, sometimes rice or spelt pasta, sometimes biscuits and chocolate. So I really don't think it is diet with her. I have recently heard from a friend of mine - who is a nutrionist - that apparently kids who were breastfed for a long time have more tendency to have problems with the milk teeth. There is a lot of sugar in mother's milk, and also breastfed kids tend to drink more often than non-breastfed kids. I breastfed my daugther for 22 months, so quite long. So it is very important to start brushing their teeth rigorously very early onwards - which I have to admit I didn't really do that thoroughly... Has anybody else any experience with this?

    Hi Sofie-Ann

May I suggest your daughter takes some "New Era" Clac Phos tissue salts at least twice a day to help her better absorb calcium from her diet. Also do make sure that she has "white" fillings when neccesary as mercury in fillings can make matters worse.

Wishing your daughter all the best in finding an answer,

    Veronica

    Re: teeth

    Hello Sofie-Ann

I would recommend a natural toothgel too - one without fluoride. Our dentist was amazed at the change in our family's dental health and he tried a tube of the gel we use for himself - he later told me he suffers with sensitive teeth and this toothgel had helped him more than any other brand. We use Aloe Vera Forever Bright toothgel from Forever Living Products - 0844 453 2024.

     Good luck!

    Re: teeth

    Hi

I have had teeth problems most of my life. Taking extra Vitamin C, keeping off sweets....nothing helped.

I read somewhere that an essential component of the synthesis of tooth enamel are the so-called essential fatty acids(EFAs), the Omega-3s and -6s. About 2 years ago I started taking a 1.6 : 1.0  EFA mixture of lenoleic acid(LA) and alpha lenolenic acid(ALA), which are parent EFAs. I use sesame oil(LA) and flaxseed oil(ALA)....organic and cold-pressed of course, from health shops and easily mix it myself monthly. I keep the mixture in dark bottles in the fridge, and pump out the air with one of those wine bottle hand pumps after each use. I normally take just 2 teaspoons daily.

I am a regular swimmer and not only did my stamina improve within a couple of days but my teeth and gums feel much stronger, and no longer bleed when brushing.

    Re: teeth

Breastfeeding her was definately the best thing you could have done.

I disagree that breast fed children have more teeth problems.

Breast milk is full of cholesterol and fat which is just what a baby needs.

There will be sugar in there too but certainly not "too much"...but then breast milk is only as healthy as the Mother!!

Weston Price found babies that used bottles had teeth deformities and underdeveloped jaw musculature because they didn't have to suck as hard on a bottle as they did on the breast....Nature ALWAYS knows best.

Well done for avoiding formula which is just liquid POISON really...now there is something that really does have too much sugar....just read the ingredient label...chemical names you can't pronounce and lots of words ending in -OSE which is SUGAR!!!

Brushing teeth is cosmetic and does little to combat decay.

Weston Price found tribes with the best teeth he had ever seen with ZERO cavities and these people had never seen a tooth brush...what they were doing, however, was NOT eating western, processed foods such as those mentioned in my previous message.

Avoid ALL fluoride dental products...fluoride is a POISON but is in toothpaste!!!

Read the toothpaste tube and it will tell you to see the Dr if the product is swallowed...there is enough fluoride in just one tube of toothpast to KILL a child.

If your water is fluoridated use a filter to get it out....I believe the North East and Midlands of the UK are fluoridated and the government wants it nationwide.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: teeth

My children used to have Ribena every day and didn't get tooth decay but they did have fissure sealing. Do dentist still do that I wonder ?  It involved sealing the biting surface with a clear hard film. Maybe that is what prevented the decay. I also think bad teeth can be genetic, just my observation ! Maybe when her second teeth come through they will be stronger.

    Re: teeth

    Dear Sofie Ann

In most instances of tooth loss I would immediately investigate the usual suspects - fluoride in water, diet - but you have clearly been there without result.

A second and less pleasant possibility to consider is the presence of parasites.  Children are prone to parasitic infestation just as much as adults; after all they play in sandpits, with household pets and are prone to physically come into contact with friends more so than adults do, possible pssing on any infestation.

The work of Dr Klinghart explains the link between parasits and gum health.  The following information is from one of my files on the subject:

We all appreciate that everything in life is about balance.  In order to make something clean, something else has to become dirty.   To increase the yin you must decrease the yang.   Remove teeth, perform root canal work or oral surgery and there is an impact elsewhere. I would like to explain to you how disorders in the gut can affect the state of your teeth and gums.

Let’s focus on parasites for a moment.  Although it’s not a thought we wish to consider, we all have parasites in our body. Eat a cubic inch of beef and you ingest anything up to 1000 parasite larvae. Shaking hands, drinking tap water, eating undercooked foods, kissing partners and friends… all contribute to a level of parasitic infestation.

Parasites have unquestionably been the biggest killer of mankind since the dawn of time.  From microscopic protozoa to 60ft tapeworm, your body’s ability to handle parasites is what determines your levels of health during your lifetime.  Everyone has parasites, even in Britain, so denial won’t help.  It isn’t a question ‘Do I?’, but ‘How Many?’ and ‘What type are they?

“The parasite issue is one of the most overlooked issues in the world today.  It is known that the reason we have better longevity now than we had a hundred years ago is not attributable to any of the medical advances – antibiotics, operations, cardiac bypass surgery, none of that – it’s only attributable to advances in hygiene that we have made.  There is enough evidence to say that what we live long and are healthy or not is not any of the other aspects of medicine, but it is how we are dealing with parasites.”

One area that we address in medicine quite a bit is a thing called bone cavitations in the jaw bone. This is usually when teeth go bad in the mouth, or they die then are extracted, the jaw bone very often stays behind infected. The Germans have found that people that have roundworms and tapeworms very frequently lost teeth – teeth simply start dying at the root, then often get extracted or they stay in there and the jawbone gets infected in the area. That is caused by the toxin release by the worms in the gut.  The toxin is then absorbed and has this effect on the teeth which are very sensitive structures.  Completely unrelated on the surface but intrinsically very much related to the worm infestation.

Intrinsic toxins are created in the gut by parasites and are then absorbed causing dysfunctions in the bio-chemistry leading to chronic tiredness. People wake up in the morning and they don’t feel fresh and rested very often this is a symptom of chronic parasites in the gut or elsewhere.  The worm called Ascaris Lumbricoides which is the most common worm that I find in people gives off a poison that’s called Ascaradine, one of the most studied toxins from worms which has exactly that effect.

Dr Klinghart, a world-renowned specialist in neurotoxins and parasitic diseases.

The key to building up your body’s defence mechanism is to have a healthy immune system.

    Re: teeth

    Hi Sofie-Ann

As an alternative dentist with over 30 years experience, unless the enamel of the original deciduous (baby) teeth was badly affected during the development stage (very rare that all teeth affected) or she has a condition called "amelogenisis imperfecta (impefect development of the tooth enamel), sugar in one form or another is the culprit! This can be hidden - fruit juices, dried fruits etc. or more obvious. Did she use a bottle? What were the contents? Was she allowed to go to sleep with the bottle or a pacifier containing juice? Has she been given so-called 'childrens' tea' often containing hidden sugar (and the cause of a big scandal in Germany some years ago)! Should be easy to identify and then isolate the cause - am happy to help further. What is the state of the permanent teeth? This may only affect the baby teeth.

As far as the future is concerned. In our practice we use a laser diagnostic instrument "Diagnadent" (soft laser - similar to that in a CD player) which measures the mineral content of the enamel. In this way, a relatively objective measurement can be taken of each tooth and re-taken at each 6 monthly check up. In addition, for initial enamel decay we use a device called "Healozone" (from the firm Kavo). This produces ozone gas which using a closely adapted silicone cup (and with a fail-safe vacuum seal device to ensure no ozone is inhaled) is passed into the tooth through the fissures, eliminating the bacteria that cause tooth decay. The tooth can then be re-mineralised or fissure sealed to prevent re-infection. The misunderstanding with most people is that they believe decay is irreversible - on the contrary, throughout each day, there are periods of de-mineralisation and periods of re-minerilisation - decay occurs when the former outweigh the latter periods.

     hope this helps

    Re: teeth

tooth decay is not just a matter of eating too much sugar, not that simple,it can be constitutional predisposition, lack of certain minerals etc, it can  be a result of what mother was or wasn't getting in terms of nutrion while she was pregnant etc....

need to look deeper ...I would check mineral levels, including possible heavy metal toxicity to start with
