My Alternative Cancer Diary

How My Health Regime Affected Me

The new health regime I had introduced to beat my breast cancer had two particularly noticeable effects.

My reaction to B17

I was taking large doses of B17 in the form of up to 50 kernels a day plus two tablets twice a day.  The nutritionist was surprised I could tolerate so many, and certainly I felt a bit nauseous from time to time, usually for about half an hour after eating breakfast.

I also had to drink several litres of water a day (and had to go to and from the loo a lot!) as my blood pressure used to drop suddenly during the day, and at times I felt quite light-headed.

As soon as the results of my blood tests improved, I gradually reduced my B17.

My blood pressure tends to be quite low anyway, so although B17 is known to reduce blood pressure, it might not affect everyone as much as it affected me.

Other illnesses gone!

Before starting my new diet, I used to suffer from back pain, acid indigestion and asthma.  After a few months on the diet, I realised that I could get up in the morning without the initial pain and stiffness in my back and right leg.

What’s more, I was breathing more easily and didn’t suffer seasonal symptoms, despite the warm dry summer.  I could also sleep at night without the acid indigestion I used to get.

These symptoms have not returned to this day.

I found that if I ate the apricot kernels and took the tablets in the same hour, then I felt sick.  If I alternated them it was ok.  I was taking 60 kernels a day to begin with and was able to tolerate them very well. So much for the 'more than two a day' will kill you theory.  I always wonder why the B17 police never worry about ratafia biscuits which are also made from apricot kernels!

Yes I agree with you wholeheartedly.  It seems that apricot kernels are not banned or warned against unless you are taking them to treat cancer - THEN they are bad for you!  Another thing I noticed - if I took the amygdalin tablets without eating anything early in the morning - they tended to make me feel very light headed - I found it best to eat them with a cracker or something (not fruit - as this made me feel nauseous)  Otherwise these were the only side effects I found - which compared to chemotherapy is a walk in the park!

B17 is also found in Almonds, apple pips, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries and cherry pips to a lesser degree. Funny how these are not bad for you according to the b17 "police" despite containing the same substance.

I run an Organic fruit and veg stall and in the summer when apricots are in season i always keep the kernels to eat, some taste very sweet and are really delicious, some are quite bitter and harder work to eat, i dont have any cancer but have known about B17/aprict kernels for yrs so always save them
