I have been a vegetarian for over 30 years and was diagnosed at age 49, two decades plus into the vegitarian regime which I still practice. Hence, be careful of generalizations.

But I also think that our immune systems are becoming weaker due to over medication, increased environmental pollutants, processed foods etc. And we know that a weak immune system leaves us more susceptible to diseases. Its claimed that people are living longer, but the over 60s were born before the chemical/junk food revolution so had a better start with a strong immune system, the foundation for good health. Now they are succumming to dementia diseases, due, I believe, to increasing toxins in the air, food, water an drugs. The young generation today will be lucky to reach middle age, let alone old age.
